Hoiks had became an intended feature but that doesn't stop it from being cheating. Hell god mode is literally built into journey mode. Zoomers likely won't know about this but cheat codes used to be intended features but was still seen as cheating. Sorry but your argument of "building around it" on a building sandbox game that also can act like a progressive RPG. You using mechanics that was meant to make a nice little house to terraform the world that was built for you. i hate the autists that mod literally everything other than bossfights out of the game

>building? just place an insta-hellevator, insta-arena (that spans the entire world size), insta-house token and also remove npc happiness and make pylons useable at all times for easy teleportation.
>fishing and quests? just cast 30 lures at once and get a shitload of fishing potions and accessories from killing the very first modded boss.
>crafting at specific locations like graveyards or demon altars? just combine all crafting stations into one so your fat ass doesn't have to move a muscle, ever.
>boss prep? buy 10000 stacks of every potion actually wait buffs have infinite duration now.
>inventory management? accessory management? wing slots, shoe slots, etc.
It's like they find the very idea of playing the game annoying, all they want is a bossfight simulator. Just fricking cheat in the best gear of that tier at that point, then spawn the next boss on the list. There, you've now reduced the game down to a 2 hour long experience at best.- Anonymous

I do this because I've played the game so much that the whole grinding phases between bosses don't excite me in any way. Buildings cool structures doesn't excite me too because I already built my fair share of structures before. I treat the game now as a boss rush, installing as many mods that add bosses as possible, abd strategizing with my friend on how to deal with every boss individually.

What grinds my gears in a lot of the current modding scene:
>full progression mods that make the entire vanilla game irrelevant, new shit is notably better than the vanilla content and you just stomp everything until you get to the mod bosses/enemies
>full progression mods where they add a bunch of new, annoying status effects from the enemies and you're supposed to wear the mod armor/accessory to deal with it, again locking you out of using the vanilla content
>equipment classes that aren't the normal trio and don't integrate with them at all, like re-adding Throwing instead of merging it into Ranged, or adding a Sniper class that doesn't get buffs from Ranged equipment, or a Paladin class that doesn't get buffs from Melee
>bullet-hell bosses that one-shot tank characters because the mod dev is allergic to melee. To counteract complaints, the dev adds """melee""" weapons where 99.99% of their damage is via projectiles
>mods in general that aren't built with the concept of tanking in mind, one-shotting you past your minmaxed tank build because HARD=GOOD

Yo-yos and boomerangs are Ranged weapons, I don't care what anyone thinks. Even better, they should've been part of the Throwing class as an excuse to keep it in and stop people shitting up the mod menu with 99999 mods to bring back Throwing.

If it was up to me, I'd buff melee armor across the board, remove all projectiles from most melee weapons, retcon yoyos and shit out of the melee class, and add a few more "shield"-type accessories (maybe).
Most melee armors AND weapons would also get passive damage reduction, maybe just a few percent in total, and a lot of the set bonuses for melee armor in the latter half of the game would also have slight passive HP regen added in addition to whatever set bonuses they had.
I guess I also wish HP regen in general was more viable, it just feels weird to know that you can stack all these effects and it still barely adds up to anything but "get some health back between fights for free, even though potions are cheap and common".Bro what the frick is this. Truth is, all four classes are rangers at the end of the day, just each with a small twist. If we're on reworking classes, mages need more weapons that aren't just Shoot Guy (and maybe debuff) and summons could behave like they actually exist and aren't just projectiles that follow you around.

Magic is actually not similar to ranged at all, magic weapon generally give you more control of the projectiles, or the projectiles straight up just have auto-aim, in exchange for limited movement

I'm the opposite, I wish there was a literal farming element to Terraria. Something that expanded upon the current alchemy system, perhaps just being able to cook food buffs. Half the reason I liked master mode was things were slower, the boss rush part of HM is boring.

On the plus side, it's nice having convenience to cut down on excess grind. It's why the shimmer is such a nice addition to the base game.

Its funny How melee is shit late game but I beat calamity ignoring basically all bullet hell oneshot autism with that endgame thorium lifesteal dagger with melee range and one frame attack speed setting my Hp to Max each time the Bosses teleported into me. Thorium Felt like a proper expansion mod, calamity is just a clusterfrick

I think he's pretty fun. You just need to get the pattern right for his last phase. IIRC correctly, some homing attacks don't work well against him at that point either, up to you if that's bad design.

I solo'd Duke Fishron on Master difficulty. Sure, it requires an arena and good gear, and it's still a pretty difficult fight but it doesn't require cheesing.

Can you beat Fishron without a bunch of movement accessories save for like two IF you use a grappling hook really well? Nobody in this thread is really talking about how god damn powerful the grappling hook is especially if you optimize your arena for using grapples to accelerate you at high speeds. You can beat the Eye of Cthulhu on expert with just copper gear no minecarts no hoiks no bullshit as long as you have a rudimentary hook arena.- Anonymous

I burned out on Terraria forever thanks to Calamity
I thought it was exclusively post-vanilla, but nah, it just shoves in tons of pointless bloat in the middle as well, it's so fricking exhausting the amount of shit it has that you're expected to use for 5% of the game then replace it for the next 5% equipment. If you play it do yourself a favor, ignore the drops of every other boss, just shove them somewhere or sell, also avoid checking craftables too much as well. - Anonymous

Wrong. Duke is meant to be fought after Golem, which by that time you already have 2 dodge accs (master ninja gears + brain). Just because you want to break progression early doesn't mean it was a poorly designed boss. - Anonymous

been playing through infernum with a friend and just about every boss rework feels better than the original, i just wish boss teleports were toned down some like against hive mind.

It was hell on earth but I look back at it fondly.
His weapons felt like a massive fricking achievement, and the wings made subsequent runs incredibly easier since you could outrun him for once. - Anonymous
