JANUARY 31: Banned entry to US by non-US citizens who had recently been in China.
-Funneled US citizens returning from China through 7 airports to be tested upon re-entry.

-Established task force of powerful experts (for example, Dr. Birx, U.S. government’s leader for combatting HIV/AIDS globally, scientist, physician, mom, with three decades of public health expertise, including virulent diseases, their vaccines, and interagency coordination, who had been utilizing the best science to change the course of the HIV pandemic and bring the pandemic under control, community by community and country by country) who also are collaborating with scientists, universities, hospitals, labs, corporations, and state and local officials around the country.
-January 20: Announced National Institutes of Health is already working on the development of a vaccine for the coronavirus.
-January 21: Activated CDC emergency operations center to provide ongoing support to the coronavirus response.
-January 23: The CDC sought a “special emergency authorization” from the FDA to allow states to use its newly developed coronavirus test.

-Met with CDC, FDA and CEOs of pharma and labs to ramp up development of test kits, therapies and vaccines.
-Testing: Expedited development of test kits. System was obsolete and not made for pandemic. Trump had to break the system. CDC kits were working at CDC office, with almost 3,000 kits tested. When CDC distributed them nationwide, a glitch was discovered. Trump stepped in to deregulate the process. Regulations in place for years stifled rapid test development by private industry. Trump removed outdated rules and bureaucracy.
-Vaccines: Expedited development of vaccines. By mid-February, more than 80 clinical trials were under way for antiviral treatments, at least ten vaccines were in the works and one was in Phase 1 testing.
-Treatment: Fast-tracking application of current viral therapies and development of new therapies. Enacted “compassionate use” policy to get people treated in advance of full FDA procedures.
-Masks: Met with mask producers to ensure enough masks. For example, 3M had been manufacturing 35 million masks per month but only 5 million were suitable for hospital use. Trump now has 3M making 320 million hospital-rated masks this year. He has worked with Honeywell to contract for more masks. He has industrial manufacturers donating masks.
-Enabled Defense Production Act. May use if necessary.
-Met with CEOs of all major insurance companies to obtain agreement for Zero Copays.
-Mandated no cost to patient of any Coronavirus testing and treatment.
-Expanded telehealth benefits for Medicare.

-Met with financial industry to provide economic relief for small businesses and employees affected.
-Proposed and pushed for paid sick leave for all infected or caring for someone infected.

-Signed $8.3 billion bill providing $8 billion to federal, state and local agencies to combat Coronavirus.
-Current plan is to provide $1,200 check to every worker earning less than $75,000. Possible second check next month.
-Donated his salary this quarter to fight coronavirus, just as he donates his entire presidential salary each quarter.

-Declared National Emergency. This made $42 billion available to individual states and localities. This prompted state governors to implement proactive and reactive measures in every state.
