According to the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS) reports for 2018, law enforcement agencies recorded nine murders, 47 rapes, 32 robberies, and 198 aggravated assaults in Stafford County. The reports also revealed 119 burglaries, 306 larceny thefts, 72 motor vehicle thefts, and six arsons in the same year.
A quick comparison of crime data for 2014 and 2018 shows increasing murder (800%), rape (80.8%), robbery (6.7%), and aggravated assault (24.5%) rates at Stafford County in 2018. Vital Records
The Clerk of Circuit Court is the official custodian of divorce records in Stafford County. To obtain copies of divorce decrees and other divorce records, pay a visit to the Clerk of Courts at the address provided above. The Virginia Department of Health keeps statewide records of marriage, divorce, birth and death events. The department holds birth and death records from 1912 to the present. Divorce records from 1918 and marriage records from 1936 to the present are also available in this department. These vital records are restricted and provided for records owners or their relations. However, after 25 years, divorce, marriage, and death records become public documents, while birth records remain restricted until after 100 years.
To request divorce, marriage, birth, or death certificate in Stafford County, complete an Application for Vital Record Certificate. Each application is at $12 fee, payable by credit/debit card, money order, check, or cash. The check or money order must be made out to the State Health Department.
